sad scrooge

That R can be a really evil cow. She says that it's only to keep him from getting injured trying to mix in with the heavyweights, and it could save his life, if he's afraid to disobey her, but I kinda doubt that smacking him after the event does any good. Even Ziggy's person, the spaced out-looking Scots guy, seemed distressed at her violence. (Ziggy is one of the muscle boys who were brawling.)
I'm fucking nauseous again. That's one bad thing about the surgery. You're supposed to make sure you eat lots of healthy, high protein stuff, but when I get one of these phases, all I can tolerate is biscuits, crisps and cake!
It's pretty miserable outdoors, and I didn't go anywhere after my 'workout'. I'm starting to feel sad...

Poor Peppi. It's unlikely he understands why he's getting whacked or why she's angry with him :-(

I'm a positive reinforcement believer for dog training (which is how my parents train dogs).... not that Loki is very well trained!

Would nuts hit the spot as healthy & high protein and still treat like?

Yes, I've thought that, and have been nibbling nuts, a bit.
R is usually very good with the dogs, and has them well trained, but on the odd occasion, they just get into pack mode, and I don't think you can hold them really responsible. She acts as though a human did something bad, and in addition to the smacking, which i don't like, she'll actually give them a bad time verbally for a couple of days!

Peppi certainly looked like he was expecting to have some fun. But he also may have been attempting to protect R, so the punishment is dumb idea.

R was far away at the time. He just wanted to be one of the boys, I think. Of course, we don't know what's really going on in their wee dog brains.

Ugh, I hate people who get angry when their dogs act like dogs and I get a red mist of rage when they actually hit them. May she be bitten by a rabid Corgi, and other compliments of the season.

Nausea would make anyone feel blue, let alone the misery of the low light in the UK at this time of year. I hope you feel better soon.

Thanks, actually, I love winter light. I'm one of those SAD in reverse people.
Soppy as I am about animals, I agree that it's plain stupid to expect them to think like u. Much as we playfully anthropomorphise them, it's plain wrong to punish them in a situation like that, after the 'offence', when the poor critter probably has no idea why he's being nosewhacked. "He knows!", says R. No, I'm not convinced
