Just watched the last act of the rollicking RIGOLETTO on BBC2, live from Mantua. Having it brodcast live in three chunks was a bit off-putting, but it really was good, with Mr Domingo taking on another major baritone role after his recent SIMON BOCCANEGRA triumph. Crackin' stuff.
I also watched PARANORMAL ACTIVITY, which didn't impress me at all. Another case of colossal over-hype.
I don't know if I've mentioned it before, but I have to give a thumbs up to Tariq Goddard's scary THE PICTURE OF CONTENTED NEW WEALTH, which I read recently. It's a proper 'literary' novel about possession, with lots of food for thought amidst yucky grossness and genuine creepiness. I really enjoyed it.
Oh and congratultions once again tojinty andtortipede on the (September) arrival of cute lil' Aphra, who is already battling capitalism in a very fine hat, (rather like the one top psychokiller Adabesi used to sport in OZ)...
