I was expecting it to be rather better, actually. It was all a little bit ploddy. and with that kind of budget, they could have produced a more convincing Nixon. That bloke looked extremely peculiar. They didn't do right by Bubastis, either, and NiteOwl's hair was wrong...
I found a handyman on the estate, through the concierge, and he put my LIDL shelf / table together in about five minutes. It's neat, really sturdy and solid. He couldn't get the window closed, though. His windows leak. Good old Lambeth Council and their contractors.
Christ , I'm sick of this endless warm sunshine ...I dragged myself out to the Wellcome Collection to see the exhibit (ends 18 Oct-) of early medical models and stuff. Some still had he power to creep one out, like the yucky diseased genitalia that were used to scare youngsters off sex, and some highly realistic chopped-about cadavers. Ew.
There was also a curious series of paintings of a woman giving birth with an expression of weary disdain, unimpressed even when phantom hands appeared at various stages to prod and minister. All in all not one of their better shows, but everything the Wellcome does is worth a visit, if you're near Euston. I also got a good poster of an addicted Victorian agonising over his absinthe, for four quid.
