This highly fictionalised biopic feels about five hours long, and is full of dream sequences, hallucinations and flashbacks. There is a lot of 'hearty' wild-artist laughter, some dancing and dying on romantic wet cobblestones, kicking over easels in creative agony, and howling in strait jackets.
Andy Garcia plays Modigliani, and that rubbish TV comic ('I'm Iranian in U Kaaaaay...' ) Omid Djalil is Picasso (He's a rubbish straight actor, too-) Miriam Margoyles and Peter Capaldi also stick their heads in and gurn, now and then as Gertrude Stein and Jean Cocteau.
God, it's bad.
