Watched Kenneth Branagh's pop at THE MAGIC FLUTE, set in a WW1-ish war zone.  I liked Tom Randle as Monastatos, Joseph Kaiser as Tamino, and Rene Pape's Sarastro, although I didn't see much point in making him double up as the Speaker.
There were a few striking moments; I liked the singing sandbags doing the Armed Men's canon best. The whole was pretty lacklustre, and certainly not a patch on the Ingmar Bergman version.

Get a load of the absurdly overdone website.

Weather not as wild as threatened, which is usual when they start with the warnings, etc. I'm shivering in my layers, though.
