LJ Strike At Midnight...

I suppose it's pointless, but I intend to abide by it. We gotta live in hope.
Had a pleasant surprise this morning, a lovely new Moleskine sketchbook, apropos of nothing, ( courtesy of the peripatetic

jinty   , soon to return from the US) .  Many thanks. It's such a buzz to get a totally unexpected Nice Thing in the post! Saw an unpleasant but curious Thing on Lavender Hill...a funeral procession, with a curlywurly white Cinderella coach . tophatted  undertaker marching ahead, and plumed horses. It seemed very strange and ghostly in the misty weather and modern heavy traffic. You do see them once in a while, in this area, but it's pretty rare. Everyone gawped sombrely. There were several huge limos, and all. I  guess it must have been a rather well-off dead person. It wasn't a kid, anyway, thank the gods, despite the white carriage. Thought THE CURSE OF STEPTOE was quite good. I always found that show too painful to be funny, myself., and the old man was just so disgustingly hateful. Ew...There was a sanitised US version, SANFORD AND SON, which was less excruciating, as the  father was played by black American comic Redd Foxx, a sort of loveable old rogue type, and the son looked to be in his early twenties, with more real hope of escape. Of course, it was completely rubbish.
