Re-watched ALIEN 3 last night, don't think I've ever seen it all the way through, I nodded off. Last thing I remember was the Paul McGann character copping it, then woke up for about the last 10-15 minutes. First time I saw some of it, I thought it was rather dull, but it looks pretty good, now; admirably bleak. Also, it's never really struck me before, how totally like one of my dream environments that prison planet is.
Actually, it led to a dream where Janis Joplin, in a hideous 70's orange/purple/white awning-striped sarong, was doing what all dummies in horror films do, wandering around the metal mesh maze alone, looking for someone. She saw a figure, lying on a cot, which turned out to be an alien. Cinematic closeup of her screaming gob. Chomp.
Apropos of nothing, I vaguely recall a conversation at GRRR! where someone commented that anglophones seem to find the name 'Igor' hilarious. (Guilty. I can't hear it without envisioning Dwight Frye/Bela Lugosi/Marty Feldman letting rip.) Another one that cracks me up is 'Jamshed' ( a major character on that weird World Service soap opera...) I was wondering if there are English names that people of other backgrounds find particularly silly/amusing?
