Paris Oddments...

-Try to avoid staying in the TimHotel at grubby, dreary Porte de Clichy. It's adequate in itself. although it's currently in the middle of a building site, but the restaurant is bizarre in its incompetence, and the food is mediocre at best. Again, this wouldn't be a problem, but there's nowhere else to go in this red light district, but sleazy kebab shops, etc. You wouldn't want to walk on your own at night around here, either. Mostly it's just grim and boring.Yuck.
-Unappetising  Clichy eaterie: "Cafe Urea"!
-The stunningly beautiful Paris Opera sadly doesn't show opera any more, just ballet. It really does look splendid against the blue skies we had Saturday.
-We got into Versailles free without queueing, with our cripsticks and H's blue badge. They were nice as pie, about it, too, no grilling or stinkeyes.
-The queues everywhere for museums and attractions were shocking. I've never been to the Musee' D'Orsay (It didn't exist last time I was in Paris-) and there were a couple of really interesting shows on,Van Gogh/Artaud and (Yow!) Gustave Dore, but...Our free time was so limited, I wouldn't have wanted to spend it queueing, even if H hadn't gone crook.

-I'd never seen Paris by night with the full light extravaganza, and the Eiffel Tower all lit up is pretty amazing, although what I could see of the  hourly sparkly show just looked a bit tacky.
-We passed the Dead Diana Underpass.
Here's a relatively mild  little something from Milo Manara's Porte de Clichy, although I can assure you nothing this interesting was going on in our dusty corner of it.
