Unique Stench...

As I hobbled sweatily around LIDL this morning, I was whacked in the gob  by a singularly intense whiff of Old White Man Stink; really, really  knock-you-to your-knees potent... I remember it from when I was a teenager working in a dry cleaner / laundry service place. Only the shirts of Mister Fives smelt like that, and I used to dread the sight of him. It's pretty rare, thank the gods, but you do run into it now and then, like today, and I always think 'Mister Fives!'  I can't even begin to describe it, but it's a very  moist sort of smell...

Watched THE BITTER TEA OF GENERAL YEN. God, that is an outstandingly weird film. Kind of erotic, almost, in a very bizarre way. The Chinese warlord is played by a strapping Scandinavian matinee idol all painted up like Ming the Merciless, and there's all manner of marcel waves, astounding frocks and weird, weird, weirdness.

As for the earthquake and all, Jesus Christ, what can you say? I'm getting worried about the San Francisco Big One, the rate disasters seem to be happening. Of course, New York has some choice fault lines, too. (Yes, I am a bloody morbid creature...)
