Eee, Crikey...

I couldn't sleep last night; really unpleasant. I struggled to get comfortable-ish in vain, whilst half-listening to weird stuff on the World Service. One programme was all about William Beebe of bathysphere fame, and was quite fascinating, which made me all the more bloody wakeful. He sounds like a proper weirdo, and the presenters were also smacking their lips over the grotesque renderings of scary abyss creatures he saw, by one Else Bostelmann. I'd really like to see these. I couldn't find much by or about her, but her rather uncanny, almost Durer-like take on potatoes and other vegetables indicates she must have been a fascinating figure.

Swings And Roundabouts...

I had no luck with the post office, of course, but it seems I have won ten quid on last night's lotto! Weird, innit?
Now, although I am indeed very poor by by Western standards. I still have a peeling roof over my head, adequate food, water and clothing, and TV/PC access. All yer basic human necessities, then. That, I suppose, means I have to donate it to the disaster victims. Feck. I do so with ill grace, because I'm very suspicious about these fund-raising things. I always end up giving my widow's mite, but I wish I could be guaranteed that it's ever going to get anywhere near those in need.Still, gotta make some effort, I guess, even vain.
