Scary Movie...

I'd been looking forward to seeing THE LIGHTHOUSE, and it did not disappoint. Robert Eggers' last spooky  tale, THE WITCH, was a winner, and IMO, this is better. Proper masterpiece stuff. It 's wonderful to look at,with Jarin Blaschke's b & w cinematography often loking like Sven Nyquist's bleak sea/landscapes for Bergman. It's a simple but effective tale of two mismatched characters slowly going nuts, while trapped in isolation, with possible supernatural 'assistance.'  It's seriously eerie, and haunting. I'll probably have dreams... There's some knockout dialogue, too, with lots of literary and mythological references. The actors are terrific. See it.
Odd that I've never been into Bake Off at all, but the Portrait Artist of the Year show has me hooked. It's basically exactly the same.
Had to schlep back to ASDA to get my refund on double-charging myself yesterday, and saw that there are actually about three proper checkouts left on one end. Thank goodness for that.
Gotta go to the hospital in the morning, for the follow-up on my cataract op. Fingers crossed.
