Still More Sorrow...
life is pain
Leela, the soppy Labrador cross who used to 'buy' treats with leaves and bits of stick, had to be put down, Friday, It was all very unexpected, rather like it was with Amazy. She didn't want to eat, one day, so they took her to the vet, and a huge mass was discovered in her chest, with quite a few secondaries. The poor old couple are devasted, especially as Leela originally belonged to their tragically dead son, and was sort of their last link to him. I feel a bit weepy, myself.

The weather is nauseating. The humidity is dreadful, like trying to breathe through a wet duvet.

I love your picture of Leela, and I'm sorry she was diagnosed so late she couldn't be treated. Her "treat game" sounds like something Tipper (pictured) would have done; retrievers naturally carry things in their mouths, and the first night I brought her home, she peeked in the door to my room with a sock in her mouth.

We had to put her down on the 5th of May 2005, but she had lived about two years past her diagnosis with inoperable liver cancer, thanks mostly to holistic and herbal meds.
