Rather gloomy, chilly day. I went to the Picture House to see THE WITCH. It's very good. The cinematography is beautiful, the acting, by an unknown cast, is fine; not least, the performance of Black Phillip the goat. Apparently his intense method acting put one of the human thesps in ER three times. I had problems understanding the dialogue, unfortunately, probably due to my deafness. All in all, I found it seriously disturbing. There's little gore, etc, but it has an effectively creepy score, and a low-key Val Lewton-ish creepiness that stays with you. I walked home, although my knees still giving me serious gyp, and this woman from one of the doomed low rises joined me, and said how much weight I'd lost, etc. She's lived on the estate for over thirty years, too, and I don' recall ever seeing her before. I really do live 'in a bubble'. I guess.
