Went down to check out the state of Battersea Arts Centre after the great blaze yesterday. Mercifully, from the front, on Lavender Hill  it looks unscathed, which is hopeful for the mosiacs. What I could see of the rear (It's still all roped off, with firefighters and cops on the job-) seems devastated, though. Most of the roof is gone. What a crying shame.

It's a much loved local landmark, and although there haven't been many art exhibits in recent years, it's a very active theatrical venue, and a handy, cosy place to roll in for a quiet coffee, trip to the loo,and and check-out of the message boards.
Fingers crossed that a full restoration will be possible. It has been opined that the front will soon be open to the public again...)
